            <description>Onward Short Story and Poetry Competition&lt;br&gt;
Closing date: 28th February 2011
Prizes of £50, £30 and £20 with free anthology. Entry fee of £3 is required for each entry or £5 for 2 entries. Entries must not exceed 1200 words or 40 lines for poetry.
The purpose of the competition is to raise funds to save and restore the Theatre Royal Hyde Cheshire,(http://www.theatreroyalhyde.co.uk) but should this fail the proceeds will be used to fund other heritage/theatre charities.

Prizes: 40-line poem: 1st £500, 2nd £200, 3rd £100; 10-line poem: 1st £500, 2nd £200, 3rd £100; Children: 1st £100. Entry fees are: £4.00 per poem; block of four entries, £14; thereafter £3.50 each; tick-box critique £6; full critique £30.
The competition has three caregories. They are: an open poem of up to 40 lines, a short poem of up to 10 lines, or an unrestricted-in-length poem for children.
A specially-engraved Dartington crystal vase will be awarded for the best poem from a Devon-based poet.
Poems must be the original work of the entrant, unpublished, and must not have won a prize in any other competition. No entrant may win more than one prize in each category.

Prizes: £5,000, £2,000, £1,000 or one of seven commendations of £100. The winning poems will be published in leading poetry periodical Poetry Review  and on the Poetry Society&apos;s website. The overall winner will be invited to read at Ledbury Poetry Festival in the summer of 2011. Entry fee is £6. Subsequent entries in the same submission cost £3 per poem. 
Entries must not have been published, self-published or broadcast, incl. Online publications. This competition is for poems written in English.
