Over The Edge Writing - Short Story and Poetry Competition Closing date: 3rd August 2010. Prizes: The best fiction entry will win E300. The overall overall winner between Short Story and Poetry will receive an additional E400, giving the overall winner total prize money of E700. Entry fee: E10, additional entries E7.50 Accepted are: three poems of up to 40 lines, or one poem of up to 100 lines. See blog for further details.

2010 Doris Gooderson Short Story Competition
Closing date: July 12, 2010. Wrekin Writers have launched their 10th Doris Gooderson Short Story Competition, inviting writers to submit short stories of 1,200 words or less. Prizes are £150, £70 or £40 and publication. Entry fee is £3 per entry or £5 for two entries. Multiple entries are permitted. The competition is open to everyone and the stories can be on any subject.

Ted Walters International Short Story, Poetry and Playwriting Competition 2010
Closing date: May 31, 2010. Prizes on offer are: Short story on any subject or theme to a maximum of 2,000 words: £200, £50 or a £15 book token. Poetry, on any subject to a maximum of 40 lines: £200, £50 or a £15 book token. Playwriting 20-minute maximum one-act plays on any subject or theme with a maximum of four characters: £200, £50 or a £15 book token. Entry fees: Poetry £4 for the first poem, and then £3.50 each thereafter. Short story £4 for the first poem, and then £3.50 each thereafter. Plays £6 for the first play, and £5.50 for each thereafter. Each entry generates a £1 donation for the Macmillan Cancer Support.
