The Federation of Children's Book Groups This site was founded by
Anne Wood, originator of The Telly Tubbies. The site declares its “main role is to act as the umbrella
organisation for local autonomous Children's Book Groups all around the UK. The Book Groups organise a variety
of activities in their localities, often in conjunction with, or in support of, their local schools and
libraries.”
The Society of Children's Book Writers &
Illustrators Provides online information for members and non-members. the scbwi acts as
a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians,
educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people.
The Word Pool Children's Book site with information and reviews for
writers, teachers and parents. The Word Pool provides many things, including a list of titles aimed at children
who don’t like to read. There are books on numeracy, Big Books for teachers on the problem of “can’t read, won’t
read”, plus a section on writing for children. Hosted by Steve & Diana Kimpton, they also have a Directory
of authors, illustrators and publishers of childrens’ books.

Distance learning courses (they are based in Canada) on all aspects of writing, but have a course specifically for
children’s writers. They say: "the writing school will teach you how to write creatively and how to market your
