PENfro Short Radio Drama Competition 2017
Closing date: 30th July 2017.
Prizes:  The top six will receive a professional critique. The top three will be edited in more detail, performed live on stage at the festival and then recorded on location at Rhosygilwen, edited, with music and FX and put up on the PENfro website. In addition the winners will receive a CD of the final piece.
Entry fee: £5 per entry.
Looking for: The drama should run for between five and ten minutes. You should calculate roughly one minute per page. This is approximately from 800 to 1600 words in length. Test your drama by reading it aloud at performance pace and timing it, allowing sufficient time for FX and action. (See website for further requirements.)

Green Alphabet Writing Prize
Closing date: 31st July 2017.
Prizes: Adult: £500.  Under 16: £200.  Runners-up will receive Waterstones vouchers.
Entry fee:  Adult - £3.  Under 16 - free entry.
Looking for: Choose any letter of the alphabet and use it in any way you like in a piece of writing on a green theme. Your submission can be a poem or a piece of prose, and could include some visual art. Whatever it is, it should refer to the environment and how to care for it.
Further info: All entries will be considered for inclusion in an anthology. Poems should be no more than 40 lines, prose no more than 500 words.

Sterts One Act Play Writing Competition 2017
Closing date: 31st July 2017.
Entry fee: £7 per script.
Prizes: £100 first prize and your play performed in Sterts studio. Two runners up will each receive a £40 prize and have a staged reading of their play in Sterts studio. There is an extra prize of £40 awarded for a play, in English, on a Cornish theme.
Theme: Any.
Looking for: An original 25-35 minute one act play for up to four adult actors to be performed in a studio space.
You must be over 18. Your play must be previously unpublished and unperformed. It must not have been placed in the top three of any other competition. Please check our website for full rules, submission details and entry form.

Women in Comedy Festival Comedy Writing Competition
Closing date: 13th October 2017.
Prizes: £50 in each category.
Entry fee: £3.
Looking for: Three-minutes comedy sketches or monologues; short stories up to 1,000 words. Entry is open to men as well as women but entries must feature a woman as the main character.

Congleton 2018 One Act Play Festival
Closing date 30th November 2017.
Prizes: Winning entries will be performed at Daneside Theatre, Congleton on Saturday 7th July 2018 at the Congleton Players One Act Play Festival where the audience vote for the winning play. £150 prize for the winning entry. The festival will be advertised on social media, radio, local newspapers.
Entry fee: Free Entry.
Looking for: Entries from budding playwrights residing in United Kingdom and Ireland. Plays should be between 20 to 30 minutes (Full Terms and Conditions can be found on www.congletonplayers.com).
