Valhalla Press Flash Fiction and Flash Memoir Contest.
Closing date: 1st February, 2013.
Prizes: Contestants will vie for prizes including $500 and an ereader plus publication in Ragnarok, an e-lit journal.
Entry fee: $15 per submission
The contest seeks out the best in original short fiction and short memoir written in English.
Entries are limited to 1,000 words. International submissions are welcome. Winners retain all rights except first-time International electronic rights. All other authors retain all rights.

InkHead Short Story Competition

Prizes: £150, £60 and £40 in each category.
Entry fee: £5.
Write a short story of no more than 1,000 words under one of the following titles:
Grandpa's Ghost; The Sound of Crickets and Sighing Trees, Dangerous Andrew's Last Mission, A Day In The Life of Robot Ronnie, A Hero Sits Next Door.
Open to ages 7 to 16 - four categories.
Winners and highly commended stories are published in an anthology.
This year the competition is being judged by Lucy Caldwell, a young novelist who was shortlisted for the BBC International Short Story prize.
