Competition Winners

Congratulations to our three prize winners, and a big 'well done' for three 'Highly Commended' stories.

The overall standard of entries was very good indeed and choosing three winners was not easy.

Our judge, Frances Clamp, is the author of several books, both fiction and non-fiction. She has also written many short stories which have been published in national magazines. Her output includes: for children, a trilogy and a fantasy adventure book, and in the non-fiction sphere books on local history. Her 11th book entitled "Basildon Our Heritage" is due for publication shortly.

• 1st Prize - "Music Man" by Teresa Tipping
  Judges comment: This was a well written story that left the reader feeling satisfied with the nicely crafted conclusion.
  
  
• 2nd Prize - "Hope and Love" by Susie Morgan
  Judges comment: A bitter sweet story, well crafted and using the musical theme in an interesting way.
  
  
• 3rd Prize - "Treble Chance" by Norman Kitching
  Judges comment: A different type of story, but well thought out and leading on to an interesting conclusion.
  
  

Three stories were also given a 'Highly Commended' status. These are:

"No Strings" by Christine Sutton

"Rhythm of Silence" by Chris Carter

"Johnnie Fedora" by Marie Kreft
